The owners of this DUMBO Brooklyn condominium loft apartment, while happy with the open floor plan, were eager to change the more typical finishes that were provided by the development. The Kitchen cherry wood cabinets and granite countertops were replaced with gray stained oak cabinetry and white marble countertops and backsplash. A custom suspended bronze light fixture over the thirteen foot island was fabricated and installed. The open staircase wood treads were replaced and the steel handrail was removed and replaced with a wall-mounted bronze handrail with lighting running along the underside. The original small fireplace was removed and replaced with a double-sided six foot long fireplace. In the media room and bedroom hallway, gray stained oak panels and shelving were installed along with a sliding door to close off the media room. In the Master Bedroom, since no closets were provided by the development, gray lacquer closet doors and interiors were installed. Gray grasscloth was installed in the bedroom. The ipe wood floors were stained dark and refinished and the apartment was completely repainted.
